5min DIY nail polish flower wrap -- great for birthday, bridal shower and gifts

To make this beautiful nail polish bouquet, you'll need nail polish, tissue papers (mine is from local Dollar Store), twist ties and a pair of scissors.

First, you wanna cut two wide stripes of two tissue papers. Here I'm using yellow and pink. The width of the tissue paper should be slightly longer than the nail polish.
Fold the tissue papers, create a scallop by cutting a rounded edge after folding.

Wrap around the nail polish. Start from the yellow tissue paper.

Then the pink one.

Use the twist tie to secure.

Then arrange the petals.

Each flower will be slightly different. That's the fun part.

This can be used for bridal shower, birthday parties, gifts for the nail polish lovers, your vanity room decoration or even center piece for some special event.

DIY magazine folder makeover using Dollar Tree wrapping paper

I've got two ugly old magazine folders forever. They are totally functional-holding my Parents and Glamorous magazines well. They are in the corner of my shelf so I don't see them that much UNTIL TODAY.
I just couldn't tolerant!

To give it a new girly look. I used polka dot wrapping paper from Dollar Tree.
You'll also need knife, scissors.
I have read about homemade mod podge from Pinterest and now it is time to give it a try.
I used 2 parts of school glue and 1 part of water. It worked very well. Some containers to mix glue and water and the paint brush to apply the "mod plodge".

Now, here comes the new look

I used the cute bow tape to define the label area.
I got the tape from Ebay. The one I used is currently out of stock. :-(

An easy 5-minute project. Give it a try.
See you next week.

DIY cute rhinestone bling initial shoes

The materials you are going to use are a pair of "ugly" shoes, rhinestones, a tweezer to grab the rhinestones and E6000 glue. You can also use hot glue.

Play around with the rhinestones to create a "template". I want my daugher's initails.
Set the template aside. Use that as your guide.Start gluing things down.
I used Q-tips to gently remove the excess glue.
Be creative. Use the rhinestones to create your own letters, patterns or shapes. This is the fun part.
Once you're done with your creative decorating. Let it dry for 24 hours.
This is a picture of her wearing it.

Go ahead and give it a try. "Bling" up your old shoes, tees or anything that you think need a shining new look.

Thank you for vising my blog.
See you next week! XOXO

Last day of infant class gifts - - Prickly pear jam

A week after my daughter's birthday, she transferred from infant room to toddler room. It was a big change for her. No bottles, no random naps, no frequent feeding, new room, new teacher and new friends. She is a big girl now.
My husband and I have loved the teachers in the infant room since day 1. We wanted to give them something homemade/handmade as kind of last-day-of-infant-room gift.
My husband had this idea of making prickly pear jam since they are right in season.

We collected from the neighborhood.

Picture from http://ieatgrass.com/2011/04/produce-that-matters-cactus-pear/

DO NOT touch prickly pears! Use a knife and cute right into the bucket!

Rinse.
Cut and mesh.

We used three layers of cheese cloth to filter the spines and skin out.
I also used a ginger pressed to help squeeze more juice out. This is totally optional. It only helped a little bit.

We used the blueberry jam receipe. You'll need sugar, pectin and large pot.

Here we are. Jam in the jars.

I used some wrapping paper, twine, labels and paper butterflies to decorate the mason jars.Click here if you wanna try to make the paper butterflies.

A closer look.

Packed them in a bag. Ready to go.

My dear hubby found a heart shape prickly pear. How cute!
The message he left me!

I am always looking for cute hair clips for my daughter. If you share the same interest, you might wanna check out my  Pinterest board for hair clips.

I got the idea of using ribbons to make dragonfly from one of my pins.
Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the original website for this set of insect hair clips.
I know they are from Zulily and are probably out of stock.

I found this pack of ribbons in local Target dollar zone.
I got the alligator hair clip from local Walmart.
This is how I made it.

Now it's time to wear it.

Travel tips -- FREE organize cubes/container

We are heading to Florida tomorrow for a short vacation. Yeah!!!
I wanna share with you very simple packing tips using FREE organizers/cubes/containers.

1. hair accessory bag--FREE

I kept this cute package for panty liners because it's so cute! It holds five hair clips (three shown in the picture, more added later) and a box of of hair elastics.

2. all beach essential in one bag--Free

I like the idea of having cubes packing different categories of stuff so nothing shifts in the luggage. I always keep the heavy duty plastic packages that come with the bed sheet, mattress cover or gift set of lotion/nail polish etc.

3. old contact lens case?--- travel size lotion container!--FREE

Have you got an old contact lens case sitting around doing nothing? Now it's time to use it. Left for day use moisturizer with SPF and right for night cream!

4. Samples--FREE

Yes. Samples. Do you shop in Sephora or Drugstore? You must have a lot of samples. Now it's time to bring them with you and use them!

5. Jewelry  organizer--only $5

Three layer jewelry box. First layer, bracelet. Second, rings and ear studs. Third, necklaces. Snap button, everything is safe here now.
I got this from ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/371077180828?var=640244865691&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

DIY Happy 1st birthday tee for little boy

My nephew's birthday is in August. He is one year old now! Only 35 days younger than my daughter.
I wanted to send him something special for his first birthday.
Here is my DIY first birthday tee.
I bought two plain tees from local Target. They cost $5 each.
For the white one, I decorated it with the number 1.
The felt chevron patter fabric is from local Walmart. Pretty, isn't it. Simply cut out the shape.
I used the "heat and bond" to attach the felt "1" to the tee. Use the purple package if you want sew later.

Then I used white thread to further secure the number.
It's done! A 10 minute project.

**************************************************
The second one is a red-grey stripe tee. I thought some blue letters will stand out.
I bought some iron-on letters from local Walmart. I believe they are less than 4 bucks.
Follow the instructions on the package.
Cut apart the letters and place them as desired. The transfer sheet (shiny plastic looking layer) side up.
Set the iron on "cotton" setting. Evenly apply heat to each letter.

Peel off the transfer sheet.
The letters have the flocked texture.
And final look.
