DIY magazine folder makeover using Dollar Tree wrapping paper

I've got two ugly old magazine folders forever. They are totally functional-holding my Parents and Glamorous magazines well. They are in the corner of my shelf so I don't see them that much UNTIL TODAY.

I just couldn't tolerant!

To give it a new girly look. I used polka dot wrapping paper from Dollar Tree.

You'll also need knife, scissors.

I have read about homemade mod podge from Pinterest and now it is time to give it a try.

I used 2 parts of school glue and 1 part of water. It worked very well. Some containers to mix glue and water and the paint brush to apply the "mod plodge".

Now, here comes the new look

I used the cute bow tape to define the label area.

I got the tape from Ebay.The one I used is currently out of stock. :-(

DIY cute rhinestone bling initial shoes

The materials you are going to use are a pair of "ugly" shoes, rhinestones, a tweezer to grab the rhinestones and E6000 glue. You can also use hot glue.

Play around with the rhinestones to create a "template". I want my daugher's initails.

Set the template aside. Use that as your guide.Start gluing things down.

I used Q-tips to gently remove the excess glue.

Be creative. Use the rhinestones to create your own letters, patterns or shapes. This is the fun part.

Once you're done with your creative decorating. Let it dry for 24 hours.

Go ahead and give it a try. "Bling" up your old shoes, tees or anything that you think need a shining new look.

Last day of infant class gifts - - Prickly pear jam

A week after my daughter's birthday, she transferred from infant room to toddler room. It was a big change for her. No bottles, no random naps, no frequent feeding, new room, new teacher and new friends. She is a big girl now.

My husband and I have loved the teachers in the infant room since day 1. We wanted to give them something homemade/handmade as kind of last-day-of-infant-room gift. 

My husband had this idea of making prickly pear jam since they are right in season.

We collected from the neighborhood.

DO NOT touch prickly pears! Use a knife and cute right into the bucket!

Rinse.

Cut and mesh.

We used three layers of cheese cloth to filter the spines and skin out.

I also used a ginger pressed to help squeeze more juice out. This is totally optional. It only helped a little bit.

We used the blueberry jam receipe. You'll need sugar, pectin and large pot.

Here we are. Jam in the jars.

I used some wrapping paper, twine, labels and paper butterflies to decorate the mason jars.Click here if you wanna try to make the paper butterflies.
